Students will explore the world of dance through play and make-believe. Great classes for encouraging physical activity and imagination. Classes are offered in Ballet, Ballet/Tap, Hip Hop/Jazz and Acrobatics. Students must be 3 years old by December 31st to enroll in the Fall programs. Students must be 3 years old by the start of the class to enroll in the Spring or Summer classes.
Students will start by learning the basics of classical ballet technique including; positioning, posture, turn-out and arm carriage. Students will learn various exercises to increase their performance quality in other styles of dance and to learn the beautiful quality of this classical style.
Hip Hop is a current style of dance which is commonly seen in music videos. This class teaches up-to-the-moment, age appropriate choreography adapted from the stylings of the students favourite stars. This class is a great workout and includes fun combinations and routines.
Jazz is a style of dance that is a mid-point between the technical aspects of Ballet and the upbeat tempos of Hip Hop. Students will learn steps, combinations, techniques, musicality, and rhythm. Classes include instruction in Jazz: Broadway style or Lyrical Jazz: A mix of Contemporary, Modern and Lyrical styles.
Stretch your limits with this class which focuses on stretching and strengthening muscles for optimal dance training. Work on splits, flexibility, abdominals, arm muscles and overall conditioning. A great class to take for getting in shape and keeping fit. A must for all dancers who like a great workout. Weights and therabands may be used in the class.
Tap students will not only learn dance steps, footwork and combinations but also learn musicality, and rhythm including counting various beats and how to listen to the music. Students will explore the use of rhythm including natural rhythm, crossed rhythm and syncopation. Ana also further their knowledge of music theory and how it applies to dance.
Students will learn the basics of rhythm and dance while also learning gymnastics floor work and flexibility. Learn both dance and gymnastics combined in this exciting class. Movements include somersaults, cartwheels, hand stands and walkovers.
This class will challenge your sense of rhythm and timing with it's passionate footwork and extensive hand movements.
Belly dance will connect you with your inner sensuality through various isolations and movements.
